Club history
The Parrot Society of Australia
NSW Inc. was established by Peter Van Antwerpen in 1982 and
later incorporated in 1989.
The critics said it would never
get of the ground, nevertheless Peter and a small group of
people including Fred Carew, Frank Dempster , Jim Benham and
Keith Dickins held the first meeting of our society in a
spare room in Lakemba R.S.L. there Peters dream became a
reality with the help of a few dedicated people.
At present the society has
around hundred members plus life members.
Club Objective
The society was formed with the
objective of promoting the study and conservation of parrots
and has reached its objective through regular meetings of
its members for exchange of ideas and expertise.
Monthly Meetings
Our meetings are held every
third Friday of the month (excluding December) and starts at

Baulkham Hills, NSW, 2153. Meetings are open to members and
guests, meetings generally go until about 10.00pm, there is
also plenty of on-site parking available.
Our monthly meetings usually
consist of;
• A brief formal administrative section
• A brief rundown of any current bird related news and
upcoming events
• Our main guest speaker for the month
• Monthly raffle draw
• Supper and a chat
These general meetings are
informative and interesting with experienced lecturers
selected each month to help gain the knowledge needed to
successfully keep, breed and understand our birds and the
meetings also give members and guests the opportunity to
talk to fellow aviculturists in a friendly atmosphere and
discuss their avian issues/successes.
